It's not just Gabe Newell who's known for responding to emails, but not all news is good for those who reach out. A Reddit user shared a reply they received from Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney. The player emailed him with one simple question: when would Alan Wake 2 by Remedy release on Steam?

Unfortunately for the gamer, Sweeney's reply was short and categorical, stating only that the release in question won't happen, offering no additional comments. So, the disappointed user will have to go for plan B: they shared an intention to buy it on Xbox.

Alan Wake 2 stands out from most Epic Games Store exclusives because Epic Games not only published the horror title but also co-financed its development alongside Remedy.

Remedy stated that the sales of Alan Wake 2 were in line with business forecasts and the studio was happy with this collaboration. However, Remedy's future games will be self-published, meaning they will be released on platforms like Steam as well. Moreover, more than a year after its release, the horror game did not turn a profit.
