Amazon's God of War TV series, though yet to premiere, has been greenlit for two seasons, as confirmed by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped into the role following the exit of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his new project.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, which is a major title in the gaming world. Amazon has ordered two seasons, and they've asked me to come on board," Moore explained. "I'm currently in the writer's room, fully immersed in this project. It's my new focus."

Despite not being a dedicated gamer, Moore admits to enjoying classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming, saying, "I took a stab at it, but the controllers threw me. 'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the God of War series, Moore has taken on multiple roles including writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His resume boasts work on acclaimed series such as Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and the 2000s Battlestar Galactica.
Although the previous team saw some departures, Sony's Cory Barlog continues to serve as an executive producer. While specifics about the series remain sparse, it is confirmed to be based on the 2018 God of War game.
Amazon's prompt renewals of other video game series like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, following their successful launches, suggest a promising future for God of War's streaming prospects.
