Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase Unveils Major Updates
Closed Beta Launching March 13, 2025
Ubisoft has confirmed the Rainbow Six Siege X Closed Beta will run from March 13th (12 PM PT/3 PM ET/8 PM CET) until March 19th (12 PM PT/3 PM ET/8 PM CET). The testing period begins immediately following the R6 Siege X Showcase.
Players can secure beta access by watching the official showcase on Rainbow Six's Twitch channel or through partnered content creators' streams to earn Twitch drops. The beta will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms featuring the all-new Dual Front mode.
Update: Ubisoft Support has acknowledged current issues with beta code email distribution through their official Twitter account and is working to resolve them promptly.
Notably, Siege X represents a massive technical overhaul rather than a standalone sequel, delivering enhanced graphics and gameplay improvements.
Dual Front: A Revolutionary 6v6 Experience

Ubisoft introduces Dual Front - a tactical evolution of Siege's formula enabling simultaneous offensive and defensive gameplay. This 6v6 mode debuts on the new District map, where teams must balance attacking enemy sectors while defending their own.
The update preserves classic Siege gameplay under the "Core Siege" label, featuring enhanced versions of five fan-favorite maps (Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, and Kafe) with upgraded textures and destruction effects. Modernizations for additional maps will roll out gradually across future seasons.
Free-to-Play Transition Coming Season 2

Marking its 10th anniversary, Siege will transition to free-to-play starting Year 10 Season 2. Game Director Alexander Karpazis explained this shift aims to lower barriers for new players while maintaining competitive integrity.
The free version includes Unranked, Quick Play, and Dual Front modes, while Ranked and Siege Cup remain premium features. This approach follows Ubisoft's philosophy of combating smurfing while expanding accessibility.
Evolution Over Sequel: The Siege X Philosophy

Karpazis revealed Ubisoft never considered developing a standalone sequel despite reaching the decade milestone. Unlike competitors releasing numbered sequels, Siege X represents three years of development focused on preserving the game's core identity while modernizing for future growth.
"Siege X symbolizes our commitment to another decade of innovation while honoring our community's legacy," Karpazis emphasized during the showcase.
Rainbow Six Siege X launches June 10, 2025 across PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach release.
