If you're navigating the ongoing rivalry between Prochek and Olbram in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you can put an end to their feud during the Battle of the Frogs and Mice side quest. Here’s a detailed guide on how to achieve a peaceful resolution.
How to Start Battle of Frogs and Mice in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
To initiate the Battle of the Frogs and Mice quest, you must first complete either the Mice or Frogs quests assigned by Prochek or Olbram. Once you've seen either of these quests through to the end, the Battle of the Frogs and Mice quest will unlock. Simply speak with Prochek in Tachov or Olbram in Zhelejov to kickstart this quest, then proceed to the designated pasture.
Should You Side With Prochek or Olbram?
While you're given the option to side with either Prochek or Olbram, you can also choose to stop the feud entirely. If you decide to take sides, speak to Prochek in Tachov and say, “Let’s get those Zhelejovites!” to support him, or talk to Olbram in Zhelejov and say, “Let’s go and see those Tachovites!” to back him up. During their negotiations at the pasture, avoid trying to reconcile them directly, as it might trigger an early fight. However, passing a dialogue check during the talks can cause an enemy to flee, making the subsequent battle easier. Winning the fight for either side will earn you some groschen.
How to Stop the Feud
For a more harmonious outcome, you can end the feud before it escalates. Before heading to the pasture, ask Prochek or Olbram if they're interested in ending the feud. Then, make your way to Troskowitz and speak with Baliff Thrush. Choose the dialogue option, “You’d finally have some peace.” You'll need to pass a dialogue check to proceed. If successful, you can visit the scribe's room to read the Troskowitz Chronicle. If persuasion fails, you can sneak in to read it, but remember to save your game beforehand.
When speaking with the scribe, select the dialogue option, “Fecit, ordinem in regione ope clavi ferrei.”
Next, head to the pasture and locate three oak trees aligned next to each other. Examine the middle tree to find a nail. You have three options with this nail:
- Leave it in the middle tree to split the pasture equally between Tachov and Zhelejov.
- Place it in the west tree to allocate more land to Tachov.
- Insert it into the east tree to give more land to Zhelejov.
The choice of where to place the nail doesn't significantly impact the outcome, so feel free to choose based on your preference or remain neutral. After making your decision, speak with Baliff Thrush again, who will agree to end the feud. Then, invite Prochek or Olbram to the pasture to finalize the resolution.
After the feud is settled, speak with Baliff Thrush once more to receive the Master Studies I book.
By following these steps, you can successfully stop the feud during the Battle of the Frogs and Mice in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. For more tips and information on the game, be sure to check out The Escapist.
