Mortal Kombat 1 Unveils Secret Fighter with Rock Legend Nod

This week, Mortal Kombat 1 enthusiasts were treated to a significant update that introduced Conan the Barbarian into the fray, adding a fresh dynamic to the battles. However, a surprise awaited the players: an unannounced addition that's as unexpected as it is intriguing—a ninja clad in pink, aptly named Floyd. While it might seem like a playful addition, Floyd is a legitimate secret fighter within the game.

Floyd serves as a walking homage to the legendary rock band, Pink Floyd. His character design draws inspiration from the iconic album cover of "The Dark Side of the Moon," symbolized by the dispersion of light into a spectrum of colors. Gameplay-wise, Floyd borrows moves from other ninjas, capable of freezing enemies akin to Sub-Zero and wielding spears like Scorpion. A fun detail about Floyd is that he boasts 1337 health points—a nod to the internet slang for "leet" or elite.

For long-time fans of the franchise, Floyd's introduction might evoke a sense of déjà vu, reminiscent of Reptile's debut in the original Mortal Kombat. Reptile, too, was a secret fighter whose moves were a compilation of other ninjas', and he was notoriously difficult to defeat.

Currently, the Mortal Kombat 1 community is on a quest to uncover the method to trigger an encounter with Floyd, as his appearances seem to be somewhat random. Floyd drops hints about the challenges players need to complete, but a full confirmation on how to consistently meet him is yet to be established.
