How To Get Photograph Emote (Patch 7.18) in Final Fantasy XIV

Author : David Apr 19,2025

One of the most engaging aspects of social interaction in *Final Fantasy XIV* is the wide array of character emotes that players can utilize to enhance their communication. Here's a detailed guide on how to unlock and use the new Photograph emote introduced in Patch 7.18.

As part of an exciting collaboration with Fujifilm’s Instax, *Final Fantasy XIV* introduced the charming Photograph emote in the otherwise lightweight Patch 7.18. This emote is a delightful addition that allows you to simulate taking photographs anywhere in Eorzea, and it's available to all players at no cost.

Unlike other emotes, which might require completing specific quests (like the quirky "Pose of the Unbound" emote) or making a purchase, the Photograph emote is automatically added to your Emote menu upon logging in after downloading the latest patch. There are no level restrictions or expansion purchases required to unlock this fun feature.

To activate the Photograph emote, navigate to your Emote menu under the "Social" tab. Scroll to the "General" tab and locate the "Photograph" emote near the bottom of the list. Select it, and your character will mimic taking a photo with a Fujifilm-style camera, complete with a Polaroid effect. For frequent use, consider adding it to your Favorites.

This emote isn't designed for continuous use or "AFK" activities, but its versatility shines through in various scenarios. You can use it underwater in areas like the Ruby Sea or while riding a mount, whether grounded or flying. It's perfect for creating unique, *Inception*-inspired poses with your characters.

Patch 7.18 marks the final update before the content-rich Patch 7.2, set to release in late March. Players can look forward to new dungeons, revisiting the Arcadion, engaging in Cosmic Exploration, and more.

This guide covers everything you need to know about unlocking and using the Photograph emote in *Final Fantasy XIV*. For more tips and guides, check out our coverage on the *FFXIV* Moogle Treasure Trove Phantasmagoria event and other game content.
