Shrek 5 has unveiled its all-new cast along with a brand-new teaser trailer, sparking reactions across the internet, including from an unexpected source: Movie Sonic, who seems unsure about Shrek's fresh look.
In a humorous video shared on TikTok, the Sonic Movie account offered "advice for green ogres," playfully showcasing Movie Sonic's own transformation from his initially criticized live-action design to the much-improved version revealed months later.

IGN had the exclusive first look at the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie back in 2018, and the initial feedback was mixed. Fans were particularly vocal about Sonic's teeth, physique, tiny eyes, and oddly human fingers.
Following significant backlash, director Jeff Fowler decided to overhaul the controversial design of the iconic character, promising fans a more authentic representation. The redesign was much better received and helped to restore fan confidence.
Although the reactions to Shrek's new look aren't as divisive as Sonic's initial live-action appearance, Sonic's playful response has nonetheless entertained his fanbase.
"You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," one fan commented, while another expressed disbelief, stating, "No way they actually posted this" accompanied by a crying emoji.
The fifth Shrek movie was originally announced in 2016 but went silent for years until Chris Meledandri, CEO of animation studio Illumination, announced its active development in 2023. Alongside this, there are hopes for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures decided to push back Shrek 5's release to December 23, 2026, and placed Despicable 3 spin-off Minions 3 in its original slot.
