Sonic Rumble Pre-Release Event: Monkey Ball, Altered Beast Crossover

Author : Emily Apr 26,2025

While the global release of Sonic Rumble is slated for May 8th, fans won't have to wait that long to dive into its first exciting crossover event. This isn't your typical crossover; it's a celebration of Sega's rich gaming history, featuring iconic characters from past and present!

Kicking off before the worldwide launch, this event will be accessible to players in regions where Sonic Rumble is currently in soft launch. From now until May 7th, you can snag the Werewolf character from the classic game Altered Beast absolutely free.

If you're a subscriber to the Sega Star Event Pass, you're in for an even bigger treat. Not only can you claim the Weredragon from Altered Beast, but you'll also unlock Opa-Opa, the beloved mascot from the arcade hit Fantasy Zone.

Sonic Rumble Crossover EventLucky you—that's not all! Head over to the in-game Ring Shop to purchase Upa-Upa and the Werebear. Meanwhile, the Red Star Ring Shop features characters from Super Monkey Ball, including AiAi and MeeMee!

It's certainly unusual to host such an event before a game's official release, but those fortunate enough to participate in the soft launch are in for a treat. And this is just the beginning. Sega has promised a packed calendar of crossovers and collaborations for Sonic Rumble, ensuring a continuous stream of excitement for players.

On a side note, keep an eye out for another exciting release from Finnish developer Supercell. Their upcoming game, a quirky monster-hunting part-timer simulator, is set to launch soon on iOS and Android. Check out our Mo.co preview to see why it's worth a second look!
