WoW Delays Plunderstorm Launch Date

Summary

  • The Plunderstorm event in World of Warcraft (WoW) has been delayed due to unexpected issues.
  • No new estimated launch time has been revealed, but it is expected before the end of January 14.
  • Players can engage in other WoW activities while waiting for Plunderstorm.

World of Warcraft has announced a delay in the launch of its highly anticipated second Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen technical challenges. Originally set to relaunch on January 14, 2025, the pirate-themed battle royale mode, introduced during the Dragonflight expansion, promised both returning and new rewards for players. However, despite plans to have Plunderstorm up and running before the day's end, fans will need to exercise a bit more patience.

The event's initial six-hour maintenance window was extended to eight hours, with servers expected to be back online by 3 PM PST. Yet, as reported by WoW community manager Kaivax on the official forums, "unexpected issues" have pushed back the event's availability further than initially anticipated. While the team at World of Warcraft is working diligently to resolve these issues, no specific new launch time has been provided beyond the hope of having Plunderstorm live before January 14 concludes.

When is Plunderstorm Live in World of Warcraft?

  • Before the end of January 14, once the "unexpected issues" are resolved.

In the meantime, WoW's regular servers are back online, allowing players to dive into other engaging activities. Whether it's completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the second week of the Turbulent Timeways event, or exploring other content in The War Within, there's plenty to keep adventurers busy while they await Plunderstorm's return.

The second iteration of Plunderstorm introduces exciting new features, including the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface accessible while logged into a character. It's speculated that these additions might be contributing to the current delays. Hopefully, the WoW team can swiftly address these challenges, allowing fans to once again enjoy the thrill of plundering.

Despite the delay, the new Plunderstorm Twitch Drops are still available. Players can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft stream on Twitch before February 4 at 10 AM PST. Notably, the streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm for viewers to progress toward this reward, offering fans a way to earn something special while they wait for the event to go live.
