The Parabolic Microphone is optional equipment, not initially available. Unlocking it requires reaching specific levels and purchasing it from the in-game shop. There are three tiers, each offering improved performance and reliability. Tier 1 unlocks at Level 7, Tier 2 at Level 31 ($3,000 upgrade), and Tier 3 at Level 72 ($5,000 upgrade).

You can equip up to two Parabolic Microphones, regardless of party size. Remember, prestiging resets your level, requiring you to unlock each tier again.

On medium and large maps, the Parabolic Microphone is invaluable for locating ghosts via sound. It detects various ghost noises: object throwing, door movement, and vocalizations. It can also help complete optional objectives requiring you to record the ghost's voice. Certain ghosts, like the Deogen or Banshee, have unique sounds only detectable with the Parabolic Microphone, aiding in identification.
