May 2025 PS Plus Game Linked to Hollywood Movie

Author : Savannah May 06,2025

It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has been leaked, though Sony has yet to confirm the details. The rumor suggests that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, will be available for free to PlayStation players. While the promotional material hints at the Until Dawn Remastered version rather than the original 2014 release, it's not entirely clear which one will be offered. We'll keep you updated as soon as we have official confirmation.

PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering monthly free games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive member discounts. It also provides a vast catalog of current and classic games for Extra and Premium members, though the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.

Speculation from the PlayStation subreddit community, as noted by PushSquare, suggests this move could be tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie didn't meet expectations, earning a 5/10 from us at IGN. Our review stated, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received a lukewarm 5/10 from us, described as an "overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 release by Supermassive Games was more favorably received, scoring a 7.5/10.

In other news, 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the PlayStation Plus library next month, including popular titles like Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. As a result, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
