Cyberpunk 2077 Lunar DLC: Unreleased Space Details Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts were once thrilled at the prospect of an expansive DLC set in space, particularly on the Moon, but unfortunately, this ambitious project was shelved by CD Projekt RED. Blogger and dataminer SirMZK has unearthed leaks and files from the game's code that provide a glimpse into what could have been a groundbreaking addition to the Cyberpunk universe.

Within the game's files, there are references to lunar surface maps, distinct zones such as the Exterior Movie Set and Drug Lab, and even a model for a rover. The Moon was envisioned as a vast open-world location, potentially covering a quarter of the size of Night City. This would have introduced a new dimension to the gameplay, allowing players to venture far beyond the familiar neon-lit streets of the game.

One of the highlights of the proposed DLC was the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Although it didn't make it into the final game, players can catch a brief glimpse of the Crystal Palace in one of the endings, when V looks out of a spaceship window. Furthermore, the files reveal a prototype for a zero-gravity bar, which was part of a cut quest named "201," linked to the Arasaka storyline.

Fans are optimistic that these intriguing concepts might find their way into CD Projekt RED's next project, Orion, which aims to expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, there has been no official word from the studio about reusing these ideas.

Although the Moon DLC remains a distant dream for now, the unearthed details offer a captivating vision of what could have been—a bold leap for Cyberpunk 2077 into uncharted territory, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's iconic cyberpunk aesthetic.
