Bethesda's Iconic Voice Actor Shares Recovery Update

Author : Aaliyah Apr 18,2025

Iconic Bethesda voice actor Wes Johnson, known for his roles in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Starfield, and many more, recently shared a heartfelt message as he recovers from a life-threatening ordeal. Johnson was found "barely alive" in his hotel room last week and had been in a coma. A video from Johnson was uploaded to a GoFundMe page, which has raised $174,653 to help cover his medical expenses and bills.

In the video, Johnson expressed his gratitude, saying, "I found out there's a lot of love in this world that I didn't know was out there and I'm grateful to each and every one of you." Johnson was in Atlanta to host a benefit event for the National Alzheimer’s Foundation. After not appearing at the event, his wife, Kim Johnson, called the hotel, leading to security and emergency medical technicians finding him in a critical condition.

Johnson shared the gravity of his situation, stating, "Rumors of my demise, well they weren't exaggerated. It was very close, very close. But I'm still here." He credited his survival to his wife's prompt action and the subsequent medical intervention. Johnson was in a coma for five days and learned about the GoFundMe campaign set up by his friends Bill Glasser, Shari Elliker, and Kim.

Johnson extended his thanks to the National Alzheimer's Association for their support, to Ted Leonsis of the Washington Capitals for a $25,000 donation, and to Bethesda for their public support. "You say that I'm your friend. I am," he said. "Always will be. Love you guys." He also expressed his appreciation to his fans, both those who donated and those who showed support in other ways, assuring them, "I love you all. I'm not going anywhere."

Despite the long road to recovery ahead, Johnson remains optimistic, saying, "It's going to be a while as I work my way back but I'm coming back. I look forward to seeing and having you all hear me then. Cheers."

Johnson's career spans numerous film and television roles, but he is best known for his work in Bethesda video games. His recent role was as Ron Hope in Starfield, and he has portrayed iconic characters such as Sheogorath and Lucien Lachance in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, three Daedric Princes in The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, Fawkes and Maister Burke in Fallout 3, Hermaeus Mora and Emperor Titus Mede II in Skyrim, and Moe Cronin in Fallout 4, among others.
