Big Day for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Fans on January 28

Summary

  • Treyarch confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 begins on Tuesday, January 28.
  • Season 1 will have lasted for 75 days by the time Season 2 is released, making it one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history.
  • Details on new content for Season 2 are still unknown, but Treyarch has previously teased more classic map remasters.

Treyarch Studios, the developer behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, has officially announced that Season 2 will launch on Tuesday, January 28. This update will also introduce a wealth of new content to the free-to-play Battle Royale game, Call of Duty: Warzone. Season 1, which began on November 14, will have run for a total of 75 days by the time Season 2 arrives, marking it as one of the longest seasons in the history of Call of Duty.

Despite the initial success of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, which saw record-breaking player numbers in its first 30 days and became the largest Call of Duty game to date, the game has experienced a significant decline in player engagement in recent weeks. This drop is believed to be influenced by persistent cheating issues in the Ranked Play mode and ongoing server problems. However, with the upcoming Season 2, fans are optimistic that new content and enhancements will revitalize the game and restore its launch-day excitement.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 Release Date Confirmed

In the latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Treyarch Studios confirmed that Season 2 will be released on Tuesday, January 28. While addressing a Zombies mode issue in the January 9 patch notes, Treyarch mentioned some fixes that would be included in the next season. They then officially announced the launch date for Season 2. Although specifics about the new season's content remain undisclosed, a comprehensive reveal is expected in a forthcoming blog post leading up to the season's start.

Season 1 of Black Ops 6 introduced a wide array of new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, events, and more. This substantial content update also ushered in a new era for Warzone players, integrating Black Ops 6's new movement system, an extensive range of new weapons, significant gameplay updates, and a new Resurgence map called Area-99.

The first season also saw the return of beloved multiplayer maps such as Nuketown and Hacienda from Black Ops 4. While details about Season 2 remain under wraps, Treyarch has hinted at the possibility of more classic map remasters. In a December interview, Treyarch's Associate Creative Director, Miles Leslie, stated that no Black Ops map is off-limits for remastering, though the studio tends to prioritize original maps over remasters.
