The Blade Phantom, a ghostly entity haunting Khazan, becomes tangible during the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass. This boss is notorious for its relentless attacks, challenging players to balance stamina management with aggressive tactics. As the first multi-phase boss you'll encounter, it sets the stage for an intense battle.

In the initial phase, set within a castle flooded with a crimson liquid, the Blade Phantom unleashes a variety of attacks:

  • A six-hit combo with four punches and two kicks, the second kick being delayed.
  • A three-hit combo consisting of two punches followed by a downward kick.
  • A four-hit combo beginning with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and culminating in a leaping kick smash.
  • A three-hit combo of flashing punches, ending in a grab that you must dodge.

Beyond these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and red spikes to emerge in front of it. If it opts for a spear, prepare for a swift throw and a subsequent teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, it executes a swift six-hit combo. Additionally, it can vanish and dash unpredictably around the battlefield before striking.

Mastering the timing to parry or dodge these attacks is crucial. Seize opportunities to attack during these brief windows, reducing the Blade Phantom's stamina for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you've depleted about half of its health, triggering the transition to the second phase.

Phase 2

The second phase begins with the Blade Phantom launching four claw attacks, followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Evacuate the area where the spear lands and brace for a leaping swipe. The sequence continues with three greatsword slashes and a concluding hammer smash.

While it retains many of its previous attacks, the Blade Phantom now introduces claw attacks, a spear thrust and follow-up, and multiple sets of swift dual-wielding strikes. Its teleportation becomes more frequent, and when armed with the greatsword, be wary of the multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. To counter this effectively, use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable to further attacks.

Exploit the moments when you deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, initiating Brutal Attacks just as the window is about to close. This maximizes damage and edges you closer to victory. Defeating the Blade Phantom rewards you with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.

This comprehensive guide should equip you with the knowledge needed to successfully defeat the Blade Phantom in *The First Berserker: Khazan*. For additional assistance with the game, visit The Escapist for more resources.
