Baldur's Gate 3 Executive Backs New RPG Sensation
The turn-based tactical RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has stormed onto the scene with widespread critical approval. Michael Douse, Publishing Director for Baldur's Gate 3, voiced his support for the newcomer, urging RPG enthusiasts to experience Expedition 33's unique blend of innovation and tradition.
Douse shared his admiration via social media on April 23, noting Expedition 33 currently holds the highest aggregate score of any 2025 release. The title boasts an impressive 92 Metacritic rating accompanied by the platform's coveted "Must-Play" designation.
Beyond critical praise, Expedition 33 became Steam's third-best-selling title within its first day of availability. Remarkably, the game maintains strong momentum despite launching alongside the anticipated Oblivion Remastered.
Our Game8 review awarded Expedition 33 a near-perfect 96/100 score for its revolutionary approach to JRPG conventions. The game masterfully blends tactical depth with reactive combat mechanics - introducing dodges, parries, and timed counters to refresh traditional turn-based systems.
