Where to Get Trap Tools in Monster Hunter Wilds
Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t directly explain how to trap monsters or where to find Trap Tools, but if you’ve played earlier titles, the process will feel familiar.
You can buy Trap Tools from the Provisions Stockpiler at your Base Camp. Talk to him and browse his inventory—you’ll find Trap Tools for 200 Zenny each. It’s wise to stock up, especially if you’re farming particular monsters or aiming to trap every species in the game.
Trap Tools can only be purchased at Base Camp; they don’t appear as gatherable items out in the wild.
How to Use Trap Tools
Now that you’ve got your Trap Tools, it’s time to use them. Combine them with a Net (made from Spiderweb or Ivy) to craft a Pitfall Trap, or pair them with a Thunderbug Capacitor to create a Shock Trap.
Both traps are effective, but some monsters are immune to certain types. For example, Shock Traps won’t work on Rey Dau—it’s a lightning dragon and unaffected by electricity. In such cases, opt for the Pitfall Trap instead.
Also remember: you can only carry one trap type at a time, so use them strategically when the monster is vulnerable.
