Farewell, dear readers, and welcome to the final regular SwitchArcade Round-Up for TouchArcade. This concludes my years of contributions, though a special edition with embargoed reviews will follow next week. This article includes reviews from Mikhail and Shaun, new release summaries, and sales information. Let's enjoy one last roundup!
Reviews & Mini-Views
Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU ($49.99)
Following the Fitness Boxing series' success (including the unexpectedly enjoyable Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star), Imagineer's collaboration with Hatsune Miku was a smart move. I've compared it to Ring Fit Adventure, and Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is impressive.
This rhythm boxing game offers daily workouts, minigames, and Miku-themed content. Note: it's Joy-Con only; Pro Controllers and third-party accessories aren't supported.
Standard features include difficulty options, free training, warm-ups, workout tracking, and unlockable cosmetics. While the music is excellent, the main instructor's voice is jarring and I recommend lowering its volume.
Fitness Boxing feat. HATSUNE MIKU is a solid fitness game, especially appealing to Miku fans. It’s best used to supplement, rather than replace, other exercise routines. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Magical Delicacy ($24.99)
Magical Delicacy blends Metroidvania exploration with cooking and crafting. While the exploration is well-executed, inventory management and UI could be improved. The charming pixel art and music are highlights.
You play as Flora, a young witch on a wholesome, magical adventure. The Metroidvania elements are surprisingly strong, though backtracking can be frustrating. Crafting and inventory management present some challenges.
Magical Delicacy boasts beautiful visuals, enjoyable music, and customizable UI settings. However, some frame rate issues were noted. The Switch version plays well, with good rumble features.
Despite its strengths, Magical Delicacy feels slightly unfinished. Quality-of-life improvements would elevate it to an essential title. -Mikhail Madnani
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
Aero The Acro-Bat 2 ($5.99)
A sequel to the 16-bit platformer, Aero The Acro-Bat 2, is a polished improvement over its predecessor, though it lacks the original's charm. This release surpasses expectations with an enhanced presentation.
Ratalaika's emulation wrapper is significantly upgraded, including box and manual scans, achievements, a gallery, jukebox, and cheats. The only drawback is the omission of the Genesis/Mega Drive version.
Fans of the original Aero The Acro-Bat will appreciate this release, and even those who found the first game lacking may find this one more enjoyable. A commendable effort from Ratalaika.
SwitchArcade Score: 3.5/5
Metro Quester | Osaka ($19.99)
This prequel to Metro Quester serves as a satisfying expansion, introducing a new dungeon, characters, and mechanics in the Osaka setting. The turn-based combat, top-down exploration, and strategic gameplay remain core elements.
The new setting introduces water travel via canoe, along with new weapons, skills, and enemies. Careful planning and cautious play are essential.
Fans of the original will find this a welcome addition, and new players can jump right in. A patient approach is rewarded with a compelling and engaging experience.
SwitchArcade Score: 4/5
