The cameras have officially started rolling on DC's highly anticipated film, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow*. To mark this exciting milestone, DC Studios head James Gunn took to Bluesky to share the first glimpse of Milly Alcock as Supergirl—or more precisely, a photo of Alcock in her actor's chair, offering a sneak peek at the character.
In his post, Gunn expressed his enthusiasm about filming commencing at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, with Craig Gillespie, the acclaimed director behind *Cruella* and *I, Tonya*, steering the project. Gunn praised the "phenomenal" Milly Alcock, known for her role in *House of the Dragon*, as she steps into the iconic role of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl.
The movie draws heavily from the graphic novel *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Nogueira. This standalone story follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder by the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The graphic novel, which was nominated for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards, is a compelling read that fans shouldn't miss.
Joining Alcock in the cast are Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother. Notably, Jason Momoa has been recast in the DC universe as Lobo, adding another layer of excitement to the film.
*Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* marks the second installment in the new DC universe, following James Gunn's *Superman*, slated for release this summer. Other upcoming projects in the DC pipeline include *The Batman Part II*, which may or may not connect to Gunn's movie-verse, and a rumored *Clayface* movie from director Mike Flanagan.
