"Lazarus: Cowboy Bebop Creator's New Anime Premieres Tonight"

Author : Adam Apr 09,2025

Lazarus stands out as a highly anticipated sci-fi anime, bringing together some of the most celebrated names in entertainment. Directed by Shinichirō Watanabe, renowned for Cowboy Bebop, Lazarus is not merely a revival but a fresh narrative, as noted by critic Ryan Guar in his review of the first five episodes. The animation is a collaborative effort between Mappa Studio, known for hits like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, and Sola Entertainment, creators of Tower of God. The action sequences are designed by Chad Stahelski, the mastermind behind the John Wick films, promising thrilling and dynamic scenes.

Given its buzz and intrigue, it's no surprise that Adult Swim has secured the rights to air Lazarus simultaneously in the U.S. and Japan. If you're eager to catch new episodes of this thrilling series online, here's where and how you can do so.

Where to Stream Lazarus

Lazarus

In a unique move for the anime industry, Lazarus is an entirely original series with no manga source material, ensuring viewers won't be able to peek ahead. Here's the official plot synopsis from the Lazarus website:

The year is 2052 - an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity prevails across the globe. The reason for this: mankind has been freed from sickness and pain. Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has developed a miracle cure-all drug with no apparent drawbacks called Hapuna.

Three years later, the world has moved on. But Dr. Skinner has returned - this time, as a harbinger of doom. Skinner announces that Hapuna has a short half-life. Everyone who has taken it will die approximately three years later. Death is coming for this sinful world - and coming soon.

As a response to this threat, a special task force of 5 agents is gathered from across the world to save humanity from Skinner's plan. This group is called "Lazarus." Can they find Skinner and develop a vaccine before time runs out?
