Marvel Rivals: A Deep Dive into Mister Fantastic's Abilities and Gameplay

Marvel Rivals delivers an exceptional hero-shooter experience, boasting diverse gameplay and stunning visuals. The game's ongoing development introduces new characters, enriching the strategic landscape. Season 1 introduces iconic Fantastic Four heroes, including the versatile Mister Fantastic.

Mister Fantastic, a formidable duelist, excels at rapid movement and significant damage contribution. His unique ability to grapple and pull himself towards allies or enemies is central to his gameplay. Each new duelist alters the game's meta, impacting optimal strategies across various maps.

Mister Fantastic's Primary Attack

Effective duelists require a strong primary attack. Mister Fantastic's "Stretch Punch," a three-hit combo (two single-fist strikes followed by a two-handed strike), offers surprising versatility. The stretched arm deals damage throughout its trajectory, impacting all enemies along the way, effectively creating area-of-effect damage. This compares favorably to other heroes with multi-target primary attacks, such as Storm's Wind Blade.

Mister Fantastic's Abilities

Mister Fantastic possesses a range of abilities, best explored in the training room. These abilities contribute to a damage-boosting passive. When fully charged, this passive becomes a significant threat. Key stats to monitor include health and Elasticity.

Mister Fantastic has 350 base health, enhanced by shields for increased survivability. "Elasticity," displayed near the crosshair, increases with each basic attack (5 Elasticity per attack). Reaching 100 Elasticity is crucial. His 3-star difficulty rating indicates a moderate learning curve, accessible to both beginners and experienced players.

Reflexive Rubber

  • Active Ability
  • 12-second duration

Mister Fantastic transforms into a rectangular shape, absorbing all incoming damage. Upon expiration, he unleashes the stored damage in the direction of the player's reticle.

Flexible Elongation

  • Active Ability
  • 3-second duration
  • Generates 30 Elasticity

Grants a shield, boosting health from 350 to 425. Pulls Mister Fantastic towards the target, dealing damage to enemies or providing a shield to allies, offering tactical flexibility in both offensive and defensive situations. Possesses two charges.

Distended Grip

  • Active Ability
  • 6-second duration
  • Generates 30 Elasticity

Mister Fantastic grabs a target, presenting three options: "Dash" (pulls him towards the target without a shield), "Impact" (pulls the grappled enemy towards him, dealing damage), and a secondary grapple on a nearby enemy, slamming both targets together for increased damage.

Wedded Harmony

  • Team-Up Ability (requires Invisible Woman)
  • 20-second duration

Heals Mister Fantastic for lost health (no shield granted). Synergizes well with Invisible Woman, a Strategist character.

Elastic Strength

  • Passive Ability

Each ability use builds Elasticity, increasing damage output. At maximum Elasticity, Mister Fantastic transforms, gaining significantly increased damage and a substantial shield (which decays after the transformation ends). Damage output is essential to maintain the inflated state.

Brainiac Bounce

  • Ultimate Ability

Mister Fantastic leaps, crashing down to deal area-of-effect damage, then bounces to repeat the attack multiple times, devastating grouped enemies.

Tips for Playing Mister Fantastic

Mister Fantastic's damage mitigation and shield generation make him surprisingly tanky.

Flexible Reflection

Combining Flexible Elongation and Reflexive Rubber provides shields for both Mister Fantastic and an ally, allowing the player to absorb enemy attacks before unleashing stored damage.

Rushing Reflexive Rubber

Using Reflexive Rubber strategically, even when not actively building the passive, maximizes the duration of his powerful inflated state, enhancing both objective control and team damage. Stacking shields can raise his effective health pool to 950.
