Minecraft Live 2025 has wrapped up, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic game. The first game drop of the year, dubbed "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25 and promises to enhance the Overworld's biomes, making them feel more immersive and alive. Players can look forward to new variants of cows, pigs, and chickens, as well as enchanting ambient features like glittering firefly bushes, falling leaves, and the soft whispers of sand, encouraging more exploration.
The second game drop, yet to be named, introduces a new block called the Dried Ghast. When rehydrated, this block transforms into a Ghastling, a baby version of the Ghast, which can eventually evolve into a Happy Ghast. Players can then use a Ghast harness to fly the Happy Ghast, which can carry up to four players. This feature is particularly exciting for Survival Mode builders as it offers a unique way to navigate the game world, akin to being in Creative Mode but within the Survival setting.
Mojang also announced a significant visual upgrade named 'Vibrant Visuals,' which aims to transform the visual experience of Minecraft without altering gameplay. For more details on this upgrade, check out IGN's dedicated article and their visuals comparison video below.
In addition, Mojang shared a new clip for the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event starting on March 25. This event, set in Midport Village, invites players to join Steve and his movie companions in a dynamic multiplayer experience, defending the village from a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. The event runs until April 7, and completing all challenges rewards players with the exclusive Yearn cape.
During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about their philosophy on game development, including why they won't create a Minecraft 2, won't shift to a free-to-play model, and won't employ generative AI in game development.
