NieR: Automata Filler Metal Guide

Acquiring upgrade materials in NieR: Automata presents varying levels of difficulty. Many drop from enemies, but some, like Filler Metal, are found randomly in the game world. This inherent randomness makes farming these items challenging.

Early in the game, Filler Metal necessitates exploration of the Factory's depths. Later, purchasing it becomes an option, albeit at a higher cost.

Locating Filler Metal in NieR: Automata

Filler Metal is a rare drop from item spawns deep within the Factory. Its location varies with each playthrough, and its spawn rate is lower than other items. Unlocking the Factory: Hanger access point allows for faster travel and a more efficient starting point for searching.

Depending on story progression, you may need to unlock the Factory: Hanger access point repeatedly.

While increased movement speed helps, reliably farming Filler Metal remains difficult. The most effective approach involves thoroughly exploring the Factory and collecting all naturally spawning items. However, purchasing remains the most straightforward method for obtaining a significant quantity.

Purchasing Filler Metal in NieR: Automata

Filler Metal is exclusively sold by the Shopkeeper Machine in the Amusement Park, but only after completing one of the game's final endings (requiring all three playthroughs). Accessing this Shopkeeper via Chapter Select after completing the game will reveal Filler Metal in its inventory, priced at 11,250 G each.

Despite the high cost, purchasing is significantly more reliable than repeated Factory runs. The Pod upgrades requiring Filler Metal are crucial for game completion, as enemies scale in difficulty.
