Riot Games' MMO: Far from Finished

Riot Games

Riot Games made a notable appearance at this year's DICE Summit, where company co-founder Marc Merrill shared exciting updates post-event with Stephen Totilo. One of Merrill's most ambitious goals is to launch a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game set within the captivating universe of League of Legends and Arcane. This project is not just a passion project for Merrill; it's consuming the bulk of his time due to his deep love for the MMO genre. He firmly believes that his dedication, coupled with the fervent desire of League of Legends fans to dive deeper into their beloved universe, sets a strong foundation for the game's potential success.

While specific details about the MMO remain under wraps, including any potential release dates, Merrill humorously remarked that he hopes the game will hit the market before the first human sets foot on Mars. Whether this light-hearted prediction will come true is something we'll have to wait and see.

In addition to the MMO, Riot Games is also developing another title set in the League of Legends universe—2XKO, a highly anticipated fighting game. Unlike the MMO, 2XKO has already given fans a glimpse through trailers and comes with a more concrete release window, slated to launch before the year's end. This news has undoubtedly heightened the excitement among the gaming community eagerly awaiting this addition to the League of Legends franchise.
