Silksong Still Coming To Switch 1

Silksong Developer Reaffirms Release For Switch 1

Following the brief showcase of Silksong at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, fans speculated that the game might bypass the current generation and launch directly on the next-gen console. Initially announced in 2019 for PC and the original Switch, Silksong was later confirmed for PlayStation and Xbox consoles by developer Team Cherry.

Matthew Griffin, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Handler, took to Twitter (X) on April 8 to address these concerns. He confirmed that Silksong will indeed be available on both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2.

Although no official details have been released on how these versions will differ, it's anticipated that the Switch 2 version will leverage the console's enhanced capabilities for a higher resolution experience.

New Silksong Images Revealed

Silksong Still Releasing on Original Switch As Previously Planned

Following the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2, new images of Silksong appeared on Nintendo Japan’s official website. These images showcase locations previously seen, but fans have noted some graphical enhancements since the game's initial reveal in 2019.

Despite the developers maintaining a tight-lipped stance on most details, the brief appearance of Silksong during the Switch 2 Direct, coupled with these new images, hints at an impending release date announcement. Recent updates to Silksong’s Steam Metadata have further fueled fans' hopes for a release later this year.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is set to launch on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. According to the Switch 2 Direct, the game is slated for release sometime this year. Stay tuned for the latest updates on Silksong by checking out our article below!
