Ubisoft is steering Skull and Bones towards an exciting Year 2, aiming to make it the most significant update yet for the pirate multiplayer game. They are set to introduce major content additions such as new game modes, ships, a mythical Kraken, and the much-anticipated land combat feature that fans have been requesting since the game's debut.
During a special Year 2 showcase that premiered recently, Ubisoft unveiled their plans for the upcoming year. The presentation was brimming with exciting content, but it’s Season 3: Guts and Glory, launching this fall, that promises the long-awaited land combat feature. This addition will allow players to engage in swordfights and use firearms on land, expanding the gameplay beyond the seas. The feature is part of the Rogue Warlord additions in Season 3, where players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to rescue skilled crew members known as Officers. A teaser video gave a glimpse into what to expect, though full details will be revealed later this year.
While land combat is the highlight of Skull and Bones Year 2, Ubisoft has more in store to keep players engaged throughout 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, launching today on April 15, introduces a loot-enhancing item ascension feature, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Season 2: Oaths of War, slated for summer 2025, will bring Megaforts and the formidable Frigate large ships. Season 4: Eye of the Beast, set for this winter, will introduce the Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.
If these updates sound appealing, you'll be pleased to know that Skull and Bones is offering a free weekend from April 17 to 21. This is a perfect opportunity for players to experience pirate PvP firsthand and potentially purchase the game at a discounted rate, though the exact price has yet to be announced.
