Sphere Defense: A Classic Tower Defense Experience on Android

Tomnoki Studio's Sphere Defense is a new tower defense game for Android, drawing inspiration from the classic geoDefense by David Whatley. The developer, a fan of the original, sought to recreate its elegantly simple yet challenging gameplay.

The Core Concept

The game's premise revolves around Earth ("The Sphere") facing imminent destruction from alien invaders. Humanity, forced underground, develops new technology to fight back. After years of setbacks, humanity finally amasses sufficient firepower to launch a counteroffensive, and you'll lead the charge to save the planet.

Gameplay

Sphere Defense delivers a classic tower defense experience. Players deploy various units, each with unique strengths, to repel waves of enemies. Successful eliminations yield resources to expand and upgrade your defenses. Higher difficulty levels demand more strategic thinking.

Three difficulty levels (easy, normal, and hard) are available, each with 10 stages lasting 5 to 15 minutes. See the game in action:

Diverse Turrets for Strategic Combat

Sphere Defense features seven unit types, offering diverse strategic options. Attack units include the Standard Attack Turret (single-target), Area Attack Turret (area-of-effect), and Piercing Attack Turret (for linear enemy formations).

Support units like the Cooling Turret and Incendiary Turret enhance your offensive capabilities. Specialized attack units such as the Fixed-Point Attack Unit (precise missile strikes) and Linear Attack Unit (satellite laser) provide additional tactical choices.
