The PC version of *Spider-Man 2* was released on both Steam and the Epic Games Store without any protective measures, making it impossible to hack the game prior to its launch. This was largely due to the absence of pre-order and pre-download options, coupled with the game's hefty 140-gigabyte size.
Despite these measures, hackers managed to download and crack the game just an hour after its release. As anticipated, *Spider-Man 2* lacked sophisticated defense systems, which facilitated the rapid cracking.
Sony took a modest approach to marketing the game, and the system requirements were only disclosed a day before the PC launch. On Steam, *Marvel's Spider-Man 2* currently ranks seventh among Sony's biggest releases, trailing behind titles like *God of War*, *Horizon*, and even *Days Gone*.
Initial player feedback has been underwhelming, with the game garnering only a 55% positive review rating from 1,280 reviews at the time of this post. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and various bugs.
In contrast, *Spider-Man Remastered* continues to lead the series in terms of online presence on PC, having achieved a peak of over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether *Spider-Man 2* can approach the success of its predecessor remains to be seen, particularly over the upcoming Friday and weekend. If current sales trends hold, the game may still achieve a respectable performance.
