Summary

  • Shift Up, the developer of Stellar Blade, rewarded its employees with a PlayStation 5 Pro and approximately $3,400 as a bonus following the game's success.
  • Stellar Blade continues to engage players with notable collaborations.
  • A PC version of the game is slated for release in 2025.

Shift Up, the creative force behind the acclaimed action-adventure game Stellar Blade, has generously gifted each of its employees a PlayStation 5 Pro and a bonus of around $3,400. Launched in April 2024, Stellar Blade quickly rose to prominence, securing high praise and becoming one of the year's standout titles. Despite initial debates over the protagonist's attire, the game garnered widespread acclaim for its dynamic combat, stunning visuals, and captivating soundtrack, achieving an impressive average score of 82 on OpenCritic and receiving numerous awards and nominations.

The game's director has humbly rejected comparisons to "NieR: Automata" made by its creator, Yoko Taro, who praised Stellar Blade as superior. The dedication of Shift Up's team was recently celebrated with the distribution of these generous year-end bonuses, reflecting the ongoing success of the game.

In a touching display of appreciation, Shift Up shared a video on Twitter of its 300+ employees receiving their complimentary PlayStation 5 Pros. Alongside the new consoles, each staff member was awarded a $3,400 bonus. A company representative stated that these rewards were intended to motivate the team moving forward. In July 2024, Shift Up made headlines by raising $320 million in South Korea's stock market, marking the second-largest public offering of the year in the country.

Stellar Blade's momentum shows no signs of slowing down, with exciting collaborations capturing the attention of its fanbase. The November 2024 release of the Nier: Automata DLC introduced new items and costumes, while a future crossover with Goddess of Victory: Nikke was announced in late December, though specifics remain under wraps. Additionally, a festive holiday event in mid-December added seasonal decorations to the city of Xion, along with new music tracks and costumes for characters Eve and Adam.

Originally a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Stellar Blade is set to expand its reach with a PC port in 2025. Shift Up announced plans for a PC version in June 2024, expressing confidence in the game's potential to thrive on the platform. Stellar Blade achieved a significant milestone by selling one million units on the PS5 within its first two months of release.
