Ys Memoire: Defeat Dularn with This Exclusive Guide

Quick Links

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana presents numerous challenging boss encounters, but the initial confrontation with Dularn, the Creeping Shadow, often proves a significant hurdle for players. This first boss fight represents a notable difficulty spike. While initially daunting, mastering Dularn's attack patterns allows for a relatively swift victory.

How to Defeat Dularn in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

The battle commences with Dularn shielding himself within a spherical barrier, rendering him invulnerable. The key is to survive his attacks until the barrier dissipates, creating an opportunity for several damaging strikes. Dularn's health varies based on the selected difficulty level. While players can retreat to regain strength, defeating Dularn is mandatory to progress.

Avoid proximity to Dularn while his barrier is active; contact inflicts damage. Attempting to attack during this phase will likely result in defeat.

Dularn's Sword Attacks

Dularn unleashes various sword attacks:

  • Descending swords that strike directly at the player.
  • Swords forming an X-pattern before homing in on the player.
  • A straight line of thrusting swords.

To counter these, maintain a wide circular movement around Dularn while the barrier is up. This provides space to dodge the first two attacks; however, jumping is crucial for additional protection. The straight line attack necessitates a well-timed jump for avoidance.

Exploit the barrier's downtime to unleash a flurry of attacks. Dularn teleports after taking significant damage. Maintain distance upon his reappearance, as he will reinstate the barrier.

Dularn's Energy Blasts

Dularn employs two energy-based attacks:

Fireballs

Dodge these fireballs by moving strategically between them or jumping over incoming projectiles. Combining movement and jumping maximizes evasion.

Arcing Slash

This large blue energy slash requires a jump to avoid completely; there are no gaps to exploit. This attack often precedes opportunities to damage Dularn, serving as a cue to attack.

Understanding Dularn's attack patterns is paramount; grinding levels isn't necessary for victory.

Rewards for Vanquishing Dularn in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

Defeating Dularn grants access to the Ignis Bracelet, a magical bracelet enabling fireball attacks, becoming a valuable asset throughout the game.
