"Far Cry 4 Achieves 60fps on PS5"

Author : Nicholas May 04,2025

Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 has been enhanced to run at a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) on the PlayStation 5. This upgrade was spotted by user gael_74 and shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit, with the game's update history confirming that Version 1.08 introduced "support 60 FPS on PS5 console." If you haven't played it yet, this is the perfect opportunity to dive into Far Cry 4, which boasts one of the series' most memorable antagonists, Pagan Min. The game's setting in the breathtaking Himalayan landscape isn't just visually stunning; it's a dynamic playground that invites players to engage in combat, hunt, and explore.

In our IGN review, we gave Far Cry 4 an impressive 8.5/10, noting that while the characters might not be the strongest, the game excels in its campaign, co-op, and competitive multiplayer, offering players an incredibly fun and liberating experience.

Far Cry 4 joins a growing list of PS4-era Ubisoft titles that have received retrospective upgrades in recent years, including Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Origins. This development has sparked excitement among fans on the subreddit, many of whom are now eagerly anticipating similar enhancements for other beloved titles in the series, such as Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

However, the timing of the update left some players disappointed. One user lamented, "You are kidding right. I just platinumed the game, like, three days ago," highlighting the frustration of missing out on the improved performance by a mere few days.

In other Ubisoft news, the company recently established a new subsidiary focused on its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises, backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Tencent. This move follows Ubisoft's announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows has surpassed 3 million players. The success of Shadows is crucial for Ubisoft, which has faced challenges with high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations, contributing to a historic low in the company's share price.

Additionally, Ubisoft has recently added Steam Achievements to the 12-year-old Splinter Cell: Blacklist, further expanding the game's appeal to a new generation of players.
