How To Access the Deep Woods in Fields of Mistria

Author : Brooklyn Mar 21,2025

Since *Fields of Mistria* entered Steam Early Access, the Deep Woods have tantalizingly appeared on the town map, a tempting yet inaccessible location…until now! The March 2025 update finally unlocks this mysterious area. Here's how to access the Deep Woods and locate Caldarus.

The key to unlocking the Deep Woods lies in breaking the Fire Seal and utilizing the newly acquired Dragon's Breath spell to melt away the concealing vines. This requires a specific offering to the Priestess's Fire Seal altar (Floor 60 of the mines): a Faceted Rock Gem, a Rockroot, an Emerald, and a Sealing Scroll. The first three items are found between floors 50 and 59. However, obtaining the Sealing Scroll requires a bit more legwork.

To get the scroll, you'll need to collaborate with Balor. Leave these items by his wagon:

  • 10 Silver Ingots
  • 10 Rubies
  • 10 Sapphires
  • 10 Emeralds

After fulfilling these requirements, speak with Balor again. He'll inform you the scroll will arrive the following day. Once you have all four items, complete the offering.

Breaking the seal usually results in a farewell message from the Priestess. But this time, things take an unexpected turn. The Priestess urges you to flee before the scroll seals you within the mines. As your health dwindles, Caldarus appears, offering aid in his human form before retreating to his temple in the Deep Woods to recover. He then tasks you with finding him there, granting you the Dragon's Breath spell in the process.

This powerful spell isn't just for clearing the Deep Woods entrance; it can also unlock other previously inaccessible areas. Equip Dragon's Breath from the pause menu and activate it while facing a blocked entrance to permanently clear the path.

Following the Fire Seal's breach, Caldarus awaits within his temple in the Deep Woods, located north of the Eastern Road. You'll need Dragon's Breath to access the area. His location is clearly marked on your map. You'll find him in the northeast corner.

Upon entering, you'll encounter a stump blocking your path. Use your axe to clear it, then continue north to reach the temple. Caldarus awaits inside.

With the Deep Woods unlocked, utilize the Dragon Statue on your farm for convenient fast travel (10 Essence). While you can visit him directly, remember you can still interact with Caldarus through his statue.
