Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 million for cancer prevention.
The Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, successfully raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This surpasses the 2024 total by over $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing titles such as Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many more across various gaming genres.
AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event, is one of two major Games Done Quick (GDQ) marathons held yearly, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick event in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, including Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. A notable example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief following Hurricane Helene.
This year's AGDQ 2025, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a Pikmin (Switch) speedrun by Ray0ken. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. The collaboration between GDQ and PCF has yielded over $26 million in donations across various events.
A standout moment was a Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing the game's music to overcome copyright restrictions. This 18-minute run generated over $24,000 in donations. The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid race.
Looking ahead, GDQ will host Summer Games Done Quick 2025 in Minneapolis on July 6th, benefiting Doctors Without Borders.
