The developers of inZOI have issued an official apology for including Denuvo DRM in the game’s Creative Studio mode demo and have confirmed its complete removal moving forward. In a transparent update, the team reaffirmed their commitment to building a highly moddable, player-driven experience—aligning with community expectations and creative freedom.
inZOI Will No Longer Use Denuvo DRM

Following player reports that the Creative Studio mode demo included Denuvo anti-tamper technology, the inZOI development team took swift action. Known for its controversial impact on performance and modding restrictions, Denuvo has long been a point of contention within the PC gaming community. Recognizing the disconnect with their vision, the team announced that the upcoming Early Access release will ship without any DRM protection.
In a Steam blog post published March 26, inZOI Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim addressed the situation directly: "We initially chose to implement Denuvo as a way to protect the game from illegal distribution. At the time, we believed this would help ensure fairness for players who had properly purchased the game. However, after taking a closer look at community feedback, we quickly realized that this approach did not align with what our players wanted."

Kjun apologized for the lack of prior communication regarding Denuvo’s inclusion in the demo, acknowledging the oversight. While removing DRM increases the risk of piracy, the team believes the trade-off is worth it to preserve player freedom. "We believe enabling this freedom from the very beginning will lead to innovative and long-lasting enjoyment for the community," he stated. This decision underscores their priority: empowering players to shape their own experiences without technical barriers.
A Game Built for Modding

Moddability lies at the core of inZOI’s design philosophy. The surprise inclusion of Denuvo raised concerns among fans, as such DRM often hinders mod installation and customization. To clarify their intent, Kjun reiterated, "As I mentioned during the Online Showcase, we are committed to making inZOI a highly moddable game."
Official mod support is set to roll out in May, allowing players to create custom content using industry-standard tools like Maya and Blender. This initial phase will be followed by expanded modding capabilities across more aspects of the game over time. The team is dedicated to fostering a creative ecosystem where players can personalize characters, environments, and gameplay mechanics freely.
Further details on modding tools, file structures, and integration methods will be shared in an upcoming dedicated post. Krafton, the publisher behind inZOI, continues to emphasize a player-first approach—actively listening to feedback and adapting development priorities accordingly.
inZOI is scheduled to enter Early Access on March 28, 2025, exclusively for PC. Full releases are planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, though the official launch date remains unannounced.
