Alan Wake 2 Tops 2 million Sales and Finally Starts Turning a Profit

Author : Owen Mar 01,2025

Alan Wake 2 surpasses 2 million global sales, exceeding initial projections. This figure significantly surpasses the 1.3 million units sold between October 2023 and March 2024, a period during which Remedy Entertainment celebrated the title as its fastest-selling game.

Remedy's recent financial report to shareholders highlights this milestone, attributing it to the game's success and the subsequent release of the Lake House expansion and the Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition. The achievement marks the game's transition to profitability, with the studio now beginning to receive royalties after covering development and marketing expenses.

The report also offered updates on upcoming projects. Control 2, a collaboration with Annapurna Interactive, is nearing completion of its pre-production phase and will commence full production by the end of February 2025. Simultaneously, the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake is progressing steadily in full production.

Remedy's multiplayer Control spin-off, FBC: Firebreak, remains in full production following a successful closed technical test in December. This test focused on evaluating matchmaking and backend services. While a release date is yet to be announced, Remedy will self-publish FBC: Firebreak later in 2025.

CEO Tero Virtala expressed confidence in the company's strategic direction and projected targets.

IGN's review of Alan Wake 2 awarded the game a 9/10, praising it as a superb survival horror sequel that significantly surpasses its predecessor.
