Who doesn't love a pirate game, especially one where you race your ships through an archipelago of islands? And what's even better? A pirate game that's currently on sale! Glory Islands, brought to you by Rio Grande Games, typically retails for $45, but right now, you can snag it on Amazon for the intriguing price of $32.17. That's a 28% discount, which is quite a steal.

In Glory Islands, you'll be strategically placing your crew on various island spaces, aiming to secure treasure and rack up points through a delightful mix of mechanics that create a well-rounded gameplay experience. The movement of your ships is controlled by playing numeric cards from your hand, which also come with special powers. For instance, playing a five allows you to pause and deploy a second pirate. However, be cautious, as overusing high-value cards can lead to point deductions at the end of the game. Claiming an island space earns you minor bonuses, but once an island is completely occupied, the player with the most crew members there scores a significant number of points.

Glory Islands is a fast-paced, enjoyable, and family-friendly board game that, while not deep enough for repeated plays or to satisfy hardcore hobbyists, is immensely enjoyable, especially at its current sale price. Balancing the race with strategic crew placement and avoiding penalties for reckless sailing is more challenging than it seems. The tension builds as you watch where other players place their sailors, as islands you thought were secure can quickly change hands.

The game also comes with charming wooden ships and sailor pieces, along with miniature rum barrels that add to the immersive pirate king experience.
