Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed Again

Assassin's Creed Shadows: A March 2025 Release

Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement aims to further refine the game based on player feedback.

The game's journey to release has been marked by two significant delays. The first, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th, 2025. While Ubisoft initially cited the "best interests of the game," later reports suggested challenges related to historical accuracy.

This second delay, however, directly addresses player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, vice president executive producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player-developer interaction. Both delays, Coté stated, provide crucial time for refinement and polishing.

Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. Whether similar compensation will accompany this shorter delay remains unannounced. The five-week shift is likely to generate less player discontent than the previous three-month postponement.

The delay might also be linked to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to enhance player focus. This initiative, coupled with recent disappointing sales figures and record losses, could explain the company's prioritization of player feedback in Assassin's Creed Shadows' development.
