Vinland Tales: A New Viking Colony Sim from Colossi Games
Colossi Games, creators of Gladiators: Survival in Rome and Daisho: Survival of a Samurai, have launched their latest casual survival game, Vinland Tales. This isometric adventure transports players to the frozen north, where they assume the role of a Viking chieftain establishing a new colony.
Familiar elements for fans of Colossi's previous titles are present: an isometric viewpoint, low-poly visuals, and relatively straightforward survival mechanics. The core gameplay loop revolves around colony building, clan management, and resource gathering.
Vinland Tales offers a wealth of features beyond the core survival elements. Expect minigames, guilds, talent trees, quests, and dungeons, providing substantial content. Cooperative multiplayer is also included for those who prefer a shared experience.
A Rapid Release Cycle?
One potential concern is Colossi Games' rapid release schedule. Their strategy of exploring diverse settings and historical periods might lead to a lack of depth in individual titles. Whether Vinland Tales can carve out a significant player base or falls short due to this approach remains to be seen.
