Raji 2: Kaliyuga Confirmed as Sequel

Author : Nicholas May 02,2026

Today's Xbox Partner Presents event concluded with a stunning cinematic trailer for a game that genuinely surprised me: Raji: Kaliyuga, the sequel to Raji: An Ancient Epic.

For those unfamiliar, the original Raji is a 2020 action-adventure title from Indian studio Nodding Heads Games. You play as Raji, an orphan on a mission to rescue her brother after he's kidnapped by a demonic horde. Guided at times by the goddess Durga and Lord Vishnu, her journey is steeped in Indian and Hindu mythology. The game ends on a significant cliffhanger, clearly setting the stage for a sequel. While reviews were mixed, it earned a nomination for Best Debut Game at The Game Awards that year.

Raji: Kaliyuga appears to be a direct continuation. The trailer shows Raji and her younger brother fighting side-by-side against the demonic threat, suggesting they will serve as dual protagonists players will control at different points. The most striking shift is the perspective: whereas the first game used an isometric view, this sequel is a full-fledged third-person action-adventure. Though we've only seen cinematic footage so far, the potential is exciting.

According to an Xbox Wire post following the announcement, Kaliyuga is set six years after the original. Raji and her brother Darsh journey to the Eternal Summit, traversing various mystical realms. As dual protagonists, you can switch between Raji the warrior and Darsh the dreamwalker, each with distinct abilities. Separated for much of the time following the first game's events, their story focuses on this division and their eventual reunion. "Kaliyuga explores the coexistence of faith and illusion, where the narrative tone, art, music, and gameplay systems must mirror this duality, shifting to reflect the perspective and truth of the character currently being played."

Raji: Kaliyuga is currently planned for release on Xbox, PC, and PS5, with a day-one launch on Game Pass. A specific release window has not yet been announced.
