Dune: Awakening, the highly anticipated open-world survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert's legendary sci-fi saga and Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed films, has been pushed back to a release date of June 10, 2025.
Developer Funcom announced this update, confirming that players eager for early access can begin their journey on June 5 by purchasing either the Deluxe Edition or the Ultimate Edition.

Explaining the rationale behind the delay, Funcom stated that based on feedback from its ongoing Persistent Closed Beta, the team needed "a bit more time to cook." This additional period will enable them to implement various changes identified and requested by players during the beta phase.
Additionally, Funcom mentioned that the delay will facilitate a "large-scale beta weekend next month, allowing even more players to experience the game and provide their valuable feedback."
While the news may disappoint those eager to explore Arrakis immediately, Funcom is offering a glimpse into the action with a combat-focused livestream scheduled for later today at 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT. This stream will delve deeper into PvP and PvE mechanics, character archetypes, and skill systems.
We at IGN remain excited about Dune: Awakening. As noted in our hands-on preview, "While skepticism is natural for an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, my day on Arrakis—complete with bouts of dehydration and sunstroke—convinced me that Dune: Awakening is a title well worth watching."
