Assassin's Creed Shadows: Free Updates and DLC Details Revealed

Author : Lily May 19,2025

Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a range of new features that will enhance the gaming experience. These include new game+ mode, additional difficulty settings, new story content, and more, ensuring that players remain engaged throughout the year.

In a detailed four-and-a-half-minute roadmap update video released today, Ubisoft provided a glimpse into what's in store for 2025. The video offers a specific schedule for May and June, showcasing the commitment of the team behind this latest stealth-action game to keep fans hooked with free updates.

The rollout of content begins in early May with "The Works of Luis Frois," the first of several free story add-ons. Accompanying this will be a Codex update, quality-of-life improvements, significant parkour enhancements, and a photo mode update. These updates reflect Ubisoft's ongoing dedication to listening to community feedback and integrating it into future updates for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

"Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released," said community developer Daniel St. Germain in today’s video. "Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."

In June, players can look forward to another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the choice to keep headgear on or off during cutscenes. These updates are highly anticipated by the community, with further features such as new game+ support, additional story content, special collaborations, and more expected before the year ends.

A major highlight on the roadmap is the first substantial DLC expansion for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji," set to release later in the year. This expansion promises a 10-hour journey with new content including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for Naoe and Yasuke to explore. Although pricing details are yet to be disclosed, the expansion will be free for those who pre-ordered the game before its launch last month.

PlayAssassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, marking the series' much-anticipated entry into Feudal Japan. The game has not only secured a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far but has also emerged as the best-selling game of last month.
