This trend continues with Black Ops 6, despite a general decline in the game's overall player base. The Zombies mode remains a favorite, drawing in a dedicated community of players. The mode's core mechanic involves surviving waves of increasingly challenging enemies, which often leads players to prioritize upgrading their weapons and defenses over following the story. However, the introduction of Zombies Directed mode in the Season 1 update has changed this dynamic, proving to be a popular addition.
According to a recent Call of Duty blog post, Directed mode has increased the main quest completion rate from 4% to 8.23%. This impressive statistic is derived from 480 million hours of gameplay, with a significant portion recorded since the mode's launch on November 14. Treyarch, the developers, aimed to encourage more players to engage with the main quest through Directed mode, and the doubling of completion rates is seen as a clear success. Despite this, over 90% of players still do not complete the main quest, prompting ongoing efforts to further increase this number.
