How to Change Outfit & Appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds

Author : Daniel Mar 18,2025

Character customization is a cornerstone of any great RPG, and Monster Hunter Wilds delivers in spades. Want to know how to tweak your hunter's look? We've got you covered.

Changing Appearance in Monster Hunter Wilds (Hunter and Palico)

Monster Hunter Wilds Character Creation

Let's start with your hunter's physical appearance. Monster Hunter Wilds boasts a detailed character creator, allowing for remarkably personalized avatars. Need to make adjustments later in the game? No problem! Once you've unlocked base camp, head to your tent and access the Appearance Menu (L1 or R1). Select "Change Appearance" to revisit the character creator and fine-tune your hunter and Palico's looks.

How to Change Outfits and Use Layered Armor

Monster Hunter Wilds Layered Armor

Layered Armor customization is available from the game's outset. Again, navigate to your tent's Appearance Menu, then choose "Equipment Appearance." This lets you customize your hunter's outfit using unlocked Layered Armor items. Remember, you're limited to what you've unlocked; you can't transmog your equipped armor with other armor types you've crafted. The same "Equipment Appearance" option also allows for Palico Layered Armor customization.

If Layered Armor isn't your style, the only other way to change your outfit is by crafting and equipping new armor. Keep in mind that each piece of equipment has different stats, so balance fashion with functionality!

Seikret Customization

The Appearance Menu also features Seikret Customization. Here, you can adjust your Seikret's skin and feather colors, patterns, decorations, and even eye color.

That's how you change your appearance and outfits in Monster Hunter Wilds. For more game tips and guides, check out The Escapist!
