In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, your journey to The Tournament begins with Gyoji, a resident of Yamato. After dispatching several members of The Shinbakufu, Gyoji will be waiting for you outside their hideout, eager to discuss the tournament. This clandestine fighting arena is located at the Ominesanji Temple in Southeastern Yamato. To make your journey smoother, synchronize at the Ominesanji Overlook viewpoint to the west of the area, which will serve as a convenient fast travel point. This step is crucial for easy returns and character switching if needed.

Upon arriving at the Ominesanji Temple, engage with Gyoji once more. He will brief you on the challenge ahead: you must triumph in four one-on-one duels, culminating in a battle against the ultimate champion. Following this briefing, ring the bell to commence your first fight.

How to Complete The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

The Tournament is a gauntlet of high-stakes, life-or-death confrontations. Fortunately, you can take breaks between each fight, allowing you to ring the bell whenever you're ready for the next challenge. Use these intervals to heal using rations, and consider upgrading your weapons and armor to stay competitive.

To best your opponents, equip Yasuke with a long katana and master the art of dodging and parrying to exploit their vulnerabilities. Utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback when your adrenaline is sufficient. Knowing your opponents' weapons can also give you an edge. Here’s a rundown of the fighters you’ll face:

  • Lady Masago wields a Naginata.
  • Lord Suguru fights with a Katana.
  • Lord Hokuto uses a Kanabo.
  • Lady O-Sen employs dual Poison Katanas and throws ranged items.
  • Lord Unkai also uses a Naginata and can heal if you keep your distance for too long.

After defeating all challengers, speak with Gyoji again on the hilltop. He will express gratitude for his liberation and hint at future tournaments. During this conversation, the "Test Your Might" trophy should unlock.

Best Loadout and Skills for Tournaments in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

For The Tournament, the Long Katana is your weapon of choice. Ensure you equip the highest rarity available and upgrade it to its maximum potential at your hideout’s blacksmith. Engravings that boost Armor Damage or Armor Piercing can significantly enhance your effectiveness. Armor selection is equally crucial, not only for health boosts but also for combat-altering engravings.

Before heading to The Tournament, secure the Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend by defeating The Ox, a Shinbakufu member, and the Protector’s Armor by completing one of the Castles. The former grants a 75% damage increase at the cost of reducing your health to 25%, while the latter enables you to parry unblockable attacks. Combining these engravings can allow you to dispatch tournament foes in under a minute, provided you parry effectively.

For skills, prioritize the Long Katana and Samurai trees with your Mastery points. Maximize Combat Expert to enhance your melee damage, and unlock essential abilities like Power Dash and Payback.

*Assassin’s Creed Shadows* is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 20th, offering players the chance to dive into this exhilarating tournament and claim their trophy.
