A Decade in the Making

Dragon Age: The Veilguard - Release Date and Gameplay RevealThe development of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been a lengthy process, marked by several delays spanning nearly a decade. Development started in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resource allocation and development timeline. The project, initially codenamed "Joplin," was even temporarily shelved due to its initial design conflicting with the company's live-service strategy.

In 2018, The Veilguard was revived under the codename "Morrison." After further development, the game was officially announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.

Despite the challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is launching this fall on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Get ready, Thedas awaits!
