Hunting for resources in *Monster Hunter Wilds* can be a thrilling adventure, but some items, like Sharp Fangs, prove trickier to find than others. This guide will walk you through locating and farming these valuable crafting components.
Sharp Fangs are an early-game crafting resource found in the Windward Plains. They're crucial for crafting beginner-level gear sets like Chatacabra and Talioth armor. Early optional quests like “Beware the Chatacabra” or “The Desert is Demanding” provide convenient access to this area, granting you a generous 50-minute time limit. Remember to fuel up with a hearty meal before you embark!
Once in the Windward Plains, head towards Area 8, the largest area on the map. Here, various smaller monsters roam, both individually and in groups. While several monsters can drop Sharp Fangs, one stands out as a particularly reliable source.
Gaijos: Your Primary Target
Gaijos are small leviathan-like creatures found near or in riverbeds, usually solitary. Their crocodile-like bodies and unique snouts make them easily identifiable. Use the interactive map to locate the purple diamond markers near water sources to pinpoint their positions.
Take down a Gaijo with your weapon (they're relatively easy to defeat, even early in the game). Carving its carcass guarantees a single Sharp Fang.
With four to five Gaijos typically spawning in the Windward Plains, and the ability to repeatedly access the area via optional quests, farming Sharp Fangs from Gaijos is highly efficient.
Talioth: An Alternative Source
Talioths, bipedal creatures found in packs in Area 8 (and sometimes Area 13), are another potential source of Sharp Fangs, although not guaranteed. While they’re slightly tougher than Gaijos, they still pose little threat even with early-game weaponry. Hunting Talioths also offers a convenient way to complete the “The Desert is Demanding” optional quest (requiring 8 Talioth kills).
