Embarking on your *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* adventure? The prologue can leave you feeling rather under-equipped, but fear not! There's a way to snag a free and surprisingly useful weapon early on: the Dogwood Village Bow. This guide shows you exactly how.

After parting ways with Hans, your path to the wedding involves either taking a blacksmith or miller job. Even if you choose the miller, the blacksmith job marker on your map conveniently leads you to the bow. This is a great option even if you want to work as a blacksmith to gain access to Semine's wedding, though the hermit's sword will have to wait until after you begin the job.
The blacksmith's location is in Tachov, north of Troskowitz (where the prologue ends). Head west out of Troskowitz, following the path as it curves north. At the point where a small road branches west and the main road splits, turn right towards a cluster of trees. This seemingly unremarkable cluster hides a small training area.

You'll find a target with arrows—grab those for some free ammo! Then, look to the right of the tree. There, leaning against the trunk, is your prize: the Dogwood Village Bow. While you're there, feel free to collect the brew from the nearby stump and any mushrooms you find. Once you're ready, continue your quest.

While you can purchase the Dogwood Village Bow from Huntsman's Son Vitek in Tachov, it's not the most powerful ranged weapon, and not worth the price when the free version is so easily accessible. If you lack ranged options, grabbing the free bow is the smarter choice. However, Vitek does sell other, potentially better weapons, and you can always supplement your funds through alchemy.
Whether you opt for the free bow or pursue other weaponry, having a ranged combat option is invaluable, especially if you prefer not to rely solely on melee combat. *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*'s combat, while similar to the first game, might not suit every player's style. A ranged weapon significantly improves the gameplay experience.
After acquiring the bow, you can continue to Tachov to work as a blacksmith (remember to save after forging a sword), or proceed to the miller to continue the main quest. Either way, you'll be better prepared for the challenges ahead.
And there you have it—your guide to obtaining the free Dogwood Village Bow early in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
