In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while most achievements focus on hunting down the mightiest beasts, there's a unique challenge that involves tracking down one of the tiniest creatures in the game. If you're eager to unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement, here's a detailed guide to help you achieve it.

The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement stands out for its straightforward yet elusive nature. Without prior knowledge, it's easy to miss this achievement entirely.

To unlock it, you must capture a rare endemic life form known as the Sandstar in the Windward Plains. This creature, resembling a small desert mouse with a long tail and shimmering fur, is only visible at night in a specific part of the region.

Since your exploration of the Windward Plains typically occurs during the day as part of the main storyline, you'll need to wait for nightfall. You can achieve this by using one of the following methods:

  • Fast Travel – Available early in the game once you've unlocked various fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to access the fast travel menu, and repeatedly travel between points to advance time until nightfall.

  • Rest – This option becomes available after completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content. Use your Guild Points to rest at a base or pop-up camp, choosing the time of day (Morning, Daytime, Evening, or Nighttime) and the environmental conditions (No Change, Fallow, Plenty, or Inclemency).

The Sandstar is not only tiny but also incredibly fast, outpacing even a fully sprinting Seikret. To increase your chances of capturing it, consider gathering Screamer Pods beforehand.

You can obtain Screamer Pods from Baunos, small winged monsters with red bodies found in the Windward Plains. These creatures roam in groups around Area 11 and Area 13, scavenging for carcasses. Take out a few Baunos to collect Screamer Pods, which aren't mandatory but significantly ease the capture process.

Once night falls in the Windward Plains, head to the area between Area 11 and Area 13 and keep a keen eye out for the Sandstar. Upon spotting it, chase it at full speed, and if you have Screamer Pods, prepare to use them. When you get close enough, fire a Screamer Pod at the Sandstar to stun it.

Quickly switch to your Capture Net (the same one used for fishing) and throw it at the stunned Sandstar to capture it. Successfully doing so will unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement and reward you with the Ribbon Dream: Amber nameplate for your Hunter Profile.
