Leaked 2005 James Bond audition tapes have surfaced online, showcasing Henry Cavill's bid for the iconic 007 role before Daniel Craig ultimately secured the part. Games Radar reports that the footage, featuring Cavill alongside Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend, and Anthony Starr, appeared on the Ron South YouTube channel, belonging to a filmmaker with a modest following.
While all auditions are interesting, Cavill's performance has garnered significant attention over the years, with many, including Casino Royale director Martin Campbell, praising his "tremendous" audition. Campbell reportedly favored Cavill, but ultimately, other decision-makers chose Craig.
Cavill later fulfilled his spy aspirations in Argylle, playing the lead alongside a star-studded cast including Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, and Catherine O’Hara. Despite the impressive ensemble, the film received a less-than-stellar reception, scoring only a 4/10 in IGN's review.
Cavill maintains a diverse and successful acting career, notably portraying Superman for DC, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and numerous other prominent roles.
