Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced significant leadership changes, effective April 1, 2025. Hideaki Nishino has been appointed sole CEO of SIE, succeeding the previous leadership structure where he shared responsibilities with Hermen Hulst. This follows the retirement of Jim Ryan last year.
Simultaneously, Sony Corporation announced the promotion of Hiroki Totoki, currently CFO, to President and CEO of the entire company, replacing Kenichiro Yoshida. Lin Tao, SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will step into Totoki's previous role as CFO.
Hulst will continue as head of PlayStation Studios, focusing on game development. Nishino, who joined Sony in 2000, will now oversee all SIE operations, including the platform business group. He previously served as SVP of the platform experience group.
In a statement, Nishino expressed his honor at assuming the CEO role, emphasizing SIE's commitment to technological innovation and creative experiences. He specifically mentioned plans for expanding PlayStation's intellectual property (IP) and further growth of the PlayStation community. He also acknowledged Hulst's contributions and leadership.
